– Owner – EYOS & OCEEF Introducing RV Odyssey

EYOS Expeditions has partnered with the Ocean Conservation Exploration and Education Foundation (OCEEF) to redefine immersive exploration…

EYOS missions It has partnered with the Ocean Conservation Exploration and Education Foundation (OCEEF), an organization to educate the world about the oceans through immersive data-collection expeditions aboard the OCEEF research yacht, RV Epic (Formerly known as MV Alucia.) The advanced ship will sail around the world with missions in Antarctica, the Chagos Archipelago, the Galapagos and other remote destinations, where they will explore highly biodiverse aquatic ecosystems alongside leading scientists, explorers, students and educators.

EYOS and OCEEF have articulated a joint mission to take advantage of exploration to raise awareness about Earth’s oceans. Rob McCallum, co-founder of EYOS says: “Working with OCEEF in this way is a natural complement to the past few years at EYOS leading and managing the Five Deeps and Ring of Fire expeditions that submerged Challenger Deep and previously unseen deep-sea environments. The Odyssey represents the new frontier. for expedition travel, blending cutting-edge science with adventurous voyages and expeditions. The opportunity and potential for further discovery with this ship’s program is enormous, and it will be very exciting for all those lucky enough to be on board.”

RV Odyssey, MV Alucia officially

EYOS founders Rob McCallum and Tim Soper have been at the forefront of deep ocean exploration combining science and private travel for decades, and the company holds many world records and has been instrumental in many scientific discoveries. On exclusive assignments aboard the RV Odyssey, EYOS will provide logistical support and command of excursions, enabling guests to fully participate in this most innovative opportunity in luxury yacht travel.

Alex Mokas, Founder of OCEEF adds, “We are very excited to partner with EYOS in this meaningful way. OCEEF’s goal is to provide world-class scientists with free access to the ship and help them design impactful missions. EYOS can help match scientists and sites with Ocean and Expedition enthusiasts which makes these amazing missions possible. We look forward to continuing to bring unparalleled experiences from passionate citizen scientists in and below the world’s oceans.”

RV Epic (Formerly known as MV Alucia) is also a pioneer in underwater exploration in her own right. The French submarine Nautile launched its first dive on the Titanic in 1987; Take part in the successful search for the black box of Air France Flight 447; Supporting the first depiction of giant squid in the wild with previous owner OceanX, and hosting David Attenborough among other prominent figures in science and conservation.

EYOS founders, McCallum and Soper, were instrumental in its design and construction during the ship’s four-year conversion period from the RV rare to MV Alucia. McCallum says: “When its conversion was completed in 2011, it was the world’s first hybrid vessel with multiple submarines, helicopters, world-class underwater diving facilities, ocean mapping and multiple science laboratories. It was one of the most efficient exploratory yachts – and its current mission with OCEEF She is exactly what we had in mind for her all those years ago.” Today, it can accommodate a helicopter and is equipped with two aircraft Triton submarinesOne of them can dive to a depth of 7,500 feet.

Through the latest technologies such as ocean learning experiences, RV from OCEEF Epic Hope to engage with millions of children and young adults as you sail around the world. Empowering the next generation of ocean explorers and conservationists, students will join scientists in an immersive undersea experience as they discover new species, learn about the importance of ocean conservation, and share their findings in real time with participants around the world.

Over the next year, RV Epic You’ll embark on a series of first-of-its-kind missions, offering an exclusive 360-degree adventure that will help advance education and a better understanding of our oceans. These immersive adventures include studying medium-sized coral reef ecosystems in the Chagos Archipelago, searching for killer whales attacking great white sharks off the coast of Cape Town, documenting hydrothermal vents on Deception Island in Antarctica, participating in studies to restore threatened species in the Galapagos, and trips. Round the Mediterranean – from Sardinia and Sicily to Crete and Santorini – and discover ancient Roman and Greek warships (three-deck warships).

OCEEF invites travelers to support its missions in Antarctica this winter by traveling aboard the RV Odyssey for the most exclusive experience possible – a first-hand look at the research participants helping to support them. With a tax-deductible donation of $150,000, donors and their friends or family members can be invited on an RV Epic Join our crew of scientists, expedition leaders and students to experience life on board.

like RV Epic Classified as a research vessel, in collaboration with researchers on board and local communities, OCEEF can obtain special research permits and conduct operations at unique sites that are normally closed to all other visitors.

100 percent of the proceeds go to support OCEEF’s research and educational mission – whether it’s searching for colossal squid in the deepest parts of Antarctica or analyzing hydrothermal vents at Antarctica’s most active volcano. In addition, OCEEF supports ongoing scientific studies and scholarships for local communities and students – ensuring a long-term impact on the future of ocean conservation.
